Kadry on Bowling: Two chances left to qualify for Scratch 6-gamer
Scratch bowlers, you have only two more chances to qualify for the year-end Scratch 6-gamer Tournament of Champions at Yosemite. This Sunday is one of them.
The November qualifier is set for noon, with check-in starting at 11 a.m. Competition will be rolled on the Yosemite house shot. Entry fee is $60, and one in every four entries will cash. Optional brackets, high- and last-game pots and senior insurance will be available.
The year-end Tournament of Champions, set for Jan. 2, will host a field of the past 24 monthly champions who have bowled at least two tournaments this year. ...

This year’s Strike Out Hunger program has started at McHenry. For every five cans of food you donate, you can bowl one free game, including shoe rental. You can bowl your games on the spot or take a coupon for a later trip. Five cans of food will also earn you a discount to Afterschool Jam, Rock-n-Bowl, Musicmania, Sunday Nite Live or Tuesday Quartermania. It’s not too late to sign up for the 2016 USBC Open Championships, the Women’s Championships or Mixed Championships. The Open competes at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., from March 5 through July 10. The two divisions are based on skill level: the regular division, for those who average higher than 180; and the classified division (180 or below). The women’s and mixed tournament run concurrently in Las Vegas at South Point Bowling Arena from April 9 through July 10. The women’s tournament runs in divisions based on averages. There are four divisions for the team event and five divisions for doubles and singles. For the mixed tournament, teams must be two men and two women and will be in four divisions based on average. The mixed doubles must be one man and one woman, and singles will be open. Both will be in six divisions. Registration and rules are at bowl.com. Entries close for all three tournaments Dec. 15.
