Kadry on Bowling: New scoring system coming to Yosemite Lanes

Yosemite Lanes is installing a new scoring system.

The QuibicaAMF BES-X is a state-of-the-art bowling entertainment scoring system. The program features 18 scoring environments, more than 1,000 animations and 23 games. The program is interactive at the bowling lane and can incorporate photos taken at the lane to the scoring screen. Bowlers can choose games, backgrounds and different screen styles to personalize their bowling experience at their console. The installation, which begins in the coming days, is expected to take up to two weeks. ...

Benny Sanchez claimed the title in the Yosemite Senior No-Tap after posting an 854 score. Sanchez had games of 286-235-251 and added 82 pins of handicap for the win. Tom Smithwick (841) finished second and Chris Martinez (827) third. Pat Baskin (810) led the women’s side, followed by Lydia Sparks (802) and Fran Cornish (784). ... Ken Thomas, Bre Sandoval and Rick Larzaro teamed up to win the Mixed Kegler Trio Tournament at McHenry with a 2,582 team total. Larzaro rolled a 266-277-277 for an 820, Sandoval had games of 251-278-279 for an 808, and Thomas posted 241-288-254 for a 783. The team added 171 pins handicap for the winning score. The team of Chris Dickinson, Bud Thompson and Bill Calvin (2,398) finished second, followed by Claude Ham, Marion Roberts and Bill Briscoe (2,397). Roberts included a no-tap 300 game. ...

The Ladies Trio No-Tap tournament runs Monday at McHenry. Check-in is at 9 a.m. followed by the competition at 9:30. ... The “New Year’s Eve in Paris” bowling party and tournament held each year at McHenry is taking reservations. The event starts Dec. 31 at 11:30 a.m. The event sells out each year, so call Terry at (209) 571-2695 to reserve your spot. ... Entries are out for the 2015 California Open and Women’s Championships, and this year brings big changes. For the first time, both tournaments will run simultaneously at the same center – Tyme to Bowl Lanes at Gold Country Casino in Oroville. Also, teams and doubles can re-enter on the spot with different teammates, and walk-ins are welcome throughout the tournament. Both events also are for teams of four this year. The “open” teams can be any combination of men and women and are handicapped on one prize list. There is an optional Scratch Division. In the women’s tournament, the team, doubles and singles will be bowled in five scratch divisions based on average. The tournament runs March 27-July 26. Entries can be booked at the bowl desks or online at CalUSBC.com.
