For those wanting to fine-tune their game, the opportunity is coming.
Pro bowler Chris Barnes and coach Mark Baker will be in Modesto to run a two-day clinic Sept. 6-7 at Yosemite Lanes from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Fresno’s David Street dominated the ninth annual Willie Taylor Memorial Scratch 6-Gamer at Yosemite. He opened qualifying with a 300 and never looked back. He added games of 280 and 258 for an 838 series his first three. He finished qualifying with 239-254-259 for a 1,590 total (a 265 average).
Street didn’t cool off while waiting for the championship match. He started with the front nine strikes to end with a 279 against Wayne Garber’s 233 for the win, $480 and a berth into the year-end Tournament of Champions. ...

The Anytime Handicap Doubles with a Twist Tournament is running at Yosemite until Aug. 29. Bowlers can bowl anytime lanes are available. Summer league tournaments are on tap for next week with the Sizzlin’ Summer No-Tap Doubles Tournament at McHenry and the Pot-of-Gold Tournament at Yosemite. The Pot-of-Gold Tournament is open to teams from participating leagues. The top placing teams earn an entry into the tournament. The McHenry Sizzlin’ Summer No-Tap Doubles is open to summer league bowlers at McHenry. There are men’s, women’s and mixed divisions with an estimated $500 first prize for each. The team max average is 420, and bowlers may bowl as many times as they wish but only place once with the same partner. ...

For the classified division, low-to-cash numbers are: team, 2,347; doubles, 944; singles, 477; and all events, 1,499. Next year’s tournament is in El Paso, Texas.
