Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Nichaela West, Alhambra softball
Alhambra softball player Nichaela West is the Bay Area News Group's girls high school athlete of the week for May 18-23.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, West finished with 59.8% of the votes. Willow Glen softball player Alanna Clincy took second at 31.8%.
Congratulations to all the all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
West, a sophomore, had the winning two-run single for Alhambra in extra innings and drove in four runs overall as the Bulldogs beat Bishop O'Dowd 9-7 in the NCS Division II quarterfinals. She added two hits and three RBIs in a round of 16 win over San Leandro.
