Preview: Mt. Carmel lost three straight, including an 18-2 defeat to San Marcos in the regular-season finale, before rallying through the CIF playoffs. The Sundevils beat No. 5-seeded Bishop’s 16-5 and No. 1 Scripps Ranch 12-6 to make Friday’s final. Mt. Carmel has outscored its opponents 260 goals to 190. … La Jolla got to the title match by beating No. 6 Francis Parker 16-9 and No. 2 Del Norte 12-7. … Mt. Carmel is looking for its first CIF title since 2023, when it won the Division 2 title with a 15-7 win over Our Lady of Peace. … La Jolla is making its fifth all-time appearance in a CIF title game and is searching for its third-ever title. The Vikings last won a CIF title in 2022, when they captured the Open Division crown with a 9-8 win over Scripps Ranch.
