Sacramento Kings sign forward Sean May
The Kings announced Monday that forward Sean May has signed a one-year contract with the team.
He originally agreed to the $884,881 deal on July 21.
May, who is coming off four injury-hampered seasons and has struggled with conditioning issues as a Charlotte Bobcat, earned the contract during a private workout last week in Las Vegas. The former North Carolina standout also auditioned for Portland, Chicago, Cleveland and the Lakers.
A Chicago native who grew up in Bloomington, Ind., May was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four after leading North Carolina to the 2005 NCAA championship.
Selected by the Bobcats with the No. 13 pick a few months later, he played in only 58 games during his first two NBA seasons - partly because of right-knee ailments - and missed all of 2007-08 after undergoing microfracture surgery. He contributed 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds this past season in 24 games and a limited role.
