Kadry on Bowling: Ereso, Blackwell, Christensen top Vanessa Brown Homes Pro-Ams
The prize lists for the Vanessa Brown Homes Pro-Ams were released, and the three division winners were David Ereso, Bob Blackwell and Carter Christensen.
Ereso scored a 1,791 to top the Adult Division at Yosemite Lanes and took home $350. Randy Ollar earned $200 for his second-place finish, scoring 1,784. Michael Ereso and LaDonna Stone tied for third at 1,772 and each won $120.
In the Senior Division, Blackwell tallied a 1,788 total and cashed first for $250. Stone’s 1,781 earned her $150. Taking third for a $115 payoff was Benny Sanchez Sr., scoring 1,769.
Youth bowler Christensen was awarded a $100 scholarship for his first-place finish of 1,748. Second-place Joshua Gaddam posted a 1,737 and was awarded a $50 scholarship. Cody Greaney earned a $25 award for his 1,689 total. ...
The annual open meeting for the Modesto USBC is set for July 26 at Yosemite. Elections for vice president and several directors will be held. Those interested in vice president must have served as a director for at least two years. Both positions require applicants to be members of Modesto USBC. Applications are available at either bowling center and are accepted until the meeting date. Also on the agenda will be committee reports and the election of convention delegates. Last week, Cyndi Blomdahl was hired as the new association manager for the Modesto USBC. She’ll run the day-to-day operations of the association under the direction of the board of directors. Youth bowler Roman Heath teamed with Jack Boyer to win the McHenry Junior/Senior Firecracker Doubles with a score of 1,752. Heath posted two no-tap 300 games and a 280 for an 880 total. Boyer contributed a 701 set, and the pair earned 171 handicap. Youth Braden Spani and Frank Mendes placed second, posting 1,703. Youth Colby Patereau and Gene Stamps tallied 1,698 for third. ...
Rose Brown took over the second slot in the 66th annual Peach Classic last weekend with a 1,233 score at McHenry. Brown, a longtime top bowler from the area, is serving in the U.S. Army and currently bowls out of El Paso, Texas. Tammy Lewis of San Jose currently sits in 100th place, which guarantees $100, at 1,067. Four weekends remain in the tournament. Squads are at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 on Saturdays and Sundays. The team of Pam Holly, Vickie Briscoe and Beverly Llopis won the Ladies No-tap Trio Tournament at McHenry with a 2,366 total. Joyce Lewis, Kelly Napuunoa and Teeny Allen placed second at 2,315. Carol Riggs, Sandy Pastorelli and Barbara Webb secured third with a 2,302 total. ...

The first Modesto USBC Queens Tournament is quickly approaching at Yosemite. Six-game qualifying is set for July 18 at 2:30 p.m. The top 16 bowlers, or 24 if the field is greater than 96, return July 19 at 9 a.m. for the match-play finals.
