Notebook: Central Catholic volleyball player signs with NAIA Oregon school
Central Catholic High School senior McKinley King recently signed to play college volleyball at Eastern Oregon University, an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) school in Le Grande, Oregon that competes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
“It’s something that has been my dream since I started playing,” King said at her signing ceremony on Oct. 8. “It’s such a relief to have found a place that fits me well.”
The Mountaineers are second in the CCC and 13th in the nation, according to the most recent NAIA Top 25 poll.
King switched from opposite to outside hitter midway through the season, but said in college, she will play “wherever the coach wants to play me.”
EOU has a rich volleyball tradition and routinely competes in the NAIA National Tournament.
King said she had several offers from NCAA Div. I, II and III, as well as a number of NAIA Division I schools.
