Bret Harte grad TJ Dillashaw suspended by United States Anti-Doping Agency
Two-time UFC champion and Bret Harte graduate, TJ Dillashaw has been suspended two years by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, the agency announced on Tuesday.
According to ESPN reporter Brett Okamonto, Dillashaw tested positive for recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO) before a title fight against Henry Cejudo on Jan. 19.
Dillashaw, who lost the fight to Cejudo, has a career record of 17-4.
ESPN reporter Greg Rosenstein wrote Dillashaw was “in the discussion” for being the greatest UFC bantamweight ever and will now be “remembered for cheating.”
ESPN had ranked Dillashaw as the No. 10 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
The press release by the USADA stated Dillashaw’s suspension began on Jan. 18, 2019 because that was day his sample was collected.
As a member of the Bret Harte wrestling team, Dillashaw was a four-time CIF Sac-Joaquin Section qualifier and two-time CIF State qualifier and placed second in the 119-pound division in 2004.
