Kadry on Bowling: Outfitters size up a title in 36th annual TOC at McHenry

Bowling Outfitters took the title in the 36th annual Tournament of Champions at McHenry Bowl, scoring a 3,494 total. Myles Duty paced the team with a 764 set on games of 258, 258 and 248. Team members include Duty, Jason and Stephany Walton, Chuck Quiring and Brett Castro. The team will share the $1,000 prize. Taking a close second was the scratch team Cook’s Bowling Supply. The team shot 3,484, paced by Rick Bates at 772 (228-279-265) and Freddy Irvin at 732 (237-227-268). The Weekenders rounded out the top three with their 3,424 set. Freddy Bibs lead the team with a 771 (279-299-193). Teammates were Rob Davis, Tim Noll, Joe Powers and Ruben Mirelez. Other teams in the money were Cleary Transportation, Wed Mixed 5’s #13, Holt of CA and 4-Get About. Low to cash is a 3,218. ...

The United Nations team won the 22nd annual Cellar Dwellers Tournament at McHenry with a 3,282 total and will share $600. Fritz and Doreen Klatt, Glenn Mount, Ray Vegas and Dave Castro made up the team. Lady & the Tramps finished second with their 3,267 set. The roster includes Scott and Cat Eastham, Ryan and Bianca Dunscomb and Richard Flores. The SIRs – made up of Julia Davalos, Vern Masse, Kent Faulkner, Chuck Shoup and Frank Alcaraz – finished third with a 3,259. It Should Have Been placed fourth with a 3,244 total. Leonard and Margo Dos Santos, Lorraine Lazaro, Anabel Spiva and Pat Rackey made up the team. Two Gents & a Lady was low in the money. Jim McCormick, Barbara Fuller, John Baker, Earl Purcell and Robert Moore teamed up to roll a 3,234 set. ...

The 66th annual Peach Classic Tournament kicks off this weekend at McHenry with the opening squad at noon Saturday. The tournament runs 11 weekends, ending Aug. 2. Squads run at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 on Saturdays and Sundays. Special squads also are set up for Memorial Day at the same times. The prize fund is expected to eclipse $30,000, and first-place money has been increased to a guaranteed $2,500. Entry fee is $60 per person and includes seven prize lists. Friday afternoon brings the Senior Fun Day No-Tap Tournament at McHenry. A potluck will start at noon with check-in at 12:30 p.m. Three games of tournament no-tap bowling with different formats starts at 1 p.m. ...

Entries are out for the Vanessa Brown Homes PBA Western Region Pro-Am at Yosemite on June 19 at 3:30 p.m. and June 20 at 7:30 p.m. The Pro-Am runs in conjunction with the annual PBA regional pro tour stop that weekend.
