Kadry on Bowling: First-prize money for Peach Classic bumped to $2,500
Garrad Marsh, proprietor of McHenry Bowl, announced the first prize for the 66th annual Peach Classic this year has been increased to a guaranteed $2,500. The singles handicap tournament kicks off its 11-weekend run May 23 with squads at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5. Special squads also are set up for May 25 and Memorial Day at the same times. There is a main prize list plus high game (men and women), scratch series (men and women), 10-game and bonus day prize lists. Bonus days pay an extra $100 to the high score for the day and $50 to second high. Entry fee is $60 per person. An estimated prize fund of $30,000 is expected. Earl Purcell led the field and topped the men’s list in the McHenry Friday No-Tap with a 903 set, including a no-tap 300 game. Ricci Gotelli rolled an 887 for second place. Yosemite is presenting the Anytime Handicap Doubles with a Twist Tournament whenever lanes are available or during your league play.
