TURLOCK YOUTH LEAGUE The City of Turlock is accepting registrations for the Turlock Youth Basketball League through Dec. 26. League is open to boys and girls in grades K-8. Grades 1-4 will play at Turlock High School, and grades 5-8 will play at Pitman High School. Activity begins Jan. 7 with two weeks of skills and instruction, followed by six games. MODESTO TURKEY TROT Sponsored by the Modesto Junior College cross country programs, the 17th annual Modesto Turkey Trot will be held Nov. 24 at Tuolumne Regional Park. The event features a 5K run at 9:30 a.m. and a half-mile kids, junior high and under race which starts at 8:45 a.m., boys and girls 9 a.m., 5k walk, 9:35 a.m. Awards will be at 10:30 a.m. There will be post-race refreshments and raffle prizes. Special awards will be given to the top three male and female runners in nine divisions. All participants in the kids half-mile receive medals.
