Kadry on Bowling: Miles Duty captures third title this year
Modesto’s Myles Duty took his third title this year in the Yosemite Scratch 6-gamer.
Rolling on the PBA Scorpion pattern, Will Garber was the high qualifier, averaging a 241 on a 1,451 set. Chris Pitts was second at 1,398 followed by Duty at 1,331. Duty ousted Pitts in a 279-187 match and went on to defeat Garber in a close 207-205 game.
Duty earned $355, and his win boosted him to the top of the Bowler of the Year competition. With only the December tournament left, Duty has 400 points. Nick Kelley and Rich Custer are tied for second with 395. The three will jockey for the final position in the Bowler of the Year next month. First pays $500, second $300 and third $200.
The 6-Gamer Tournament of Champions is set for Jan. 8, and more than $1,000 will be added to the prize fund. The 24-bowler field will be comprised of past TOC and regular champions, and will fill out the lineup with top money winners. Bowlers must compete in at least two 6-gamers to qualify for the TOC.
