How do I change Dark Mode or Light Mode?
Go to Account, Appearance, and choose either Dark Mode or Light Mode.
How do I make the Edition my home screen?
To change your experience so that the Edition always loads first, go to Account, then Default Home Screen. Choose Editions. The next time you open the app, it will load with Editions as the home screen.
How do I personalize my For You section?
Choose the topics that you care about the most to see those stories in a single For You feed. Go to For You, and then click on “Edit” in the upper right of your screen. From there, follow or unfollow the topics you want to appear in For You. Top Stories will appear in everyone’s For You.
What are the different tabs at the bottom of the app, and what do they mean?
- News: This is the latest news from the newsroom, updated throughout the day. Find additional sections and topics via the horizontal navigation at the top of the News page.
- Editions: This is the daily Edition, including the print replica.
- Games: Easily find more than a couple of dozen games
- For You: Your personalized section, including Your Feed and Bookmarks. In this section, you can follow topics you want to see more of and unfollow topics that are not of interest to you. In Bookmarks, you can save articles, Editions, games and videos.
- Account: Manage your subscriptions, topics, notifications, home screen, get support and more.
Account Access
I have a subscription and was signed in to the app before the update. Do I need to sign in again?
Yes. Our app has been rebuilt on a new platform that requires subscribers to log in again to their accounts. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
What are my login options?
The app supports easy login and account management, including one-time passcode, and fingerprint or face ID if enabled. Users retain their same McClatchy account info through these new login methods. You can also still log in with your email and password, as well as through available social options.
Can I use Apple Pay or Google Play to subscribe?
Yes, new payment options have been added for both subscribing and managing accounts in-app.
Additional Features
How do I turn on news alerts in the app?
On iOS devices, click on Account, then Notification Preferences. This will take you to your device’s settings for this app, where you click on “Notifications” and then “Allow Notifications.”
On Android devices, click on Account, then Notification Preferences. This will open Settings, where you can Allow Notifications and choose how they show up.
Where do I find my bookmarks?
Under the For You section. In Bookmarks, you can save your favorite articles, editions, games and videos. (If you had bookmarks saved previously, they did not carry over to our latest app. We apologize for any inconvenience.)
Where can I find obituaries?
Obituaries are available through our website or in the Edition.
Will commenting be available in the new app?
Yes, commenting is available on articles in the app.
Troubleshooting
What if the app crashes or displays blank pages?
Restart the app and ensure the app is the latest version. You can also try logging out and back in. If issues persist, uninstall and reinstall the app.
I’m having trouble logging in. What should I do?
- Update your app: Make sure you’re using the latest version of the app for the best experience.
- Check your login details: Sign in with the email and password associated with your subscription. If you need help, click “Forgot Password” to reset.
- Try another device: Switching can help if you’re experiencing access problems.
- Restart your device: A quick reboot can clear glitches and help you sign in successfully.
- Seeing “Oops, Something Went Wrong”?: This usually happens if the login process was interrupted. Close the app, then try signing in again to complete the process.
