Dan Costello: Trump most closely aligned with Catholic principles
As a Catholic, I am obliged to vote according to an informed Catholic conscience. An informed conscience is doing what I know to be right and not doing what I know to be wrong. In serious matters, and voting is a serious matter, not to do this deliberately, with full knowledge and consent, is hypocritical and seriously sinful.
For instance, to say I am personally against abortion but to support those candidates who support abortion and also enforce the laws allowing abortion is a perfect example. This is exactly what Sen. Tim Kaine, a Catholic and Hillary Clinton’s running mate for vice president, is doing. She supports abortion and other issues that are against the Catholic faith. She has even said Christians, and that includes Catholics, must give up their beliefs that abortion and artificial birth control are wrong. She also said the law must be enforced.
Will those whose beliefs are against abortion and other issues be persecuted? Donald Trump most supports Catholic principles. Hillary does not.
