David K. Ford: Did Bee finally see the light, have a change heart, grow a brain?
Re “Clinton’s tawdry dealings can’t be ignored” (Another View, Aug. 20): What’s this on the Saturday Opinion Page? A Modesto Bee editorial calling out Hillary Clinton for taking bribes through her and Billy Jeff’s Clinton Foundation? Citing multiple examples of special interest groups seeking their influence and giving them money in return for documented, undisputable favors, The Bee editors laid it out for all to read and understand.
Are you guys off your meds? Skies have opened. Seas have parted. Heads exploded. I’ve regained my faith in humanity and a higher power. The blind squirrel has finally found an acorn!
Your last paragraph sums it up: “Because this is what we’ve come to expect doesn’t mean we should come to accept it.”
And you don’t have to! In the next sentence, though you relapse a little and call her opponent awful, he doesn’t owe anybody favors, has a fine upstanding family, is willing to admit mistakes and change gears, and has a proven track record of running companies and getting the job done. You prefer a corrupt, proven liar over somebody who doesn’t always say things politically correctly? That is what this election comes down to. Keep those meds on hold guys, you’re finally regaining consciousness!
David K. Ford, Manteca
Editor’s note: Not to disappoint the letter writer, but the editorial “Clinton’s tawdry dealings can’t be ignored” was excerpted from the San Diego Union-Tribune and was not written by The Bee’s editors, who have yet to make a statement on the Clinton Foundation. Acorns remain in short supply.
