Corrina D. Harris: Sickened by story of villagers who drove elephant back into the river
Re “Elephant dies after incredible journey” (Page 11A, Aug. 17): I’m and really sad and just sickened by people’s character. This may have been a wild animal to some, but elephants are family-oriented beings and do not do well when separated from their herds. Reading that the people of Bangladesh drove it back into the flood-swollen river while it was trying to climb out hurts my heart. I cried as I read the story. It is really no different from what will happen to our country if, heaven forbid, Donald Trump wins this coming election. Immigrants have as much right to happiness as we do. And, after all, where did his family migrate here from?
