Patricia Lemaster: Man shot at Costco never should have been released from care center

Re “Man shot at Costco was suicidal, his sister says” (Front Page, July 30): In regard to a recent news report of a man walking around in Costco with a large knife requiring intervention from law enforcement. This gentleman was reportedly discharged from a behavioral health facility though apparently known to be suicidal. This is considered mental health care?

A very sad state of affairs. Even with Obamacare, the co-payment is prohibitive for those with low incomes. Many psychiatrists will not accept Medicare and probably Medicaid. How many people need to be injured or killed before real help is available? The police are wonderful and should not be forced to administer mental health care.
