James Sandner: Liberty is dead, thanks to gun laws

How long until the legislature and Governor Moonbeam add the hammer and sickle to our state flag? Heaven knows liberty in this state is as extinct as the flag's grizzly bear. Everyone now feels much "safer" after the passage of the latest round of "common sense" gun control laws. I know that law enforcement officers and citizens alike will be secure as they visit our state's high crime areas. Californians ask yourselves why our worst crime areas are in cities governed by Democrats for decades even as they passed the most restrictive gun laws in the USA. Indeed, as they continue to hamstring law abiding citizen's rights, they also vilify law enforcement and say we cannot trust them.

The Bee published the Declaration of Independence on July 4th. We should be assessing the "long train of abuses and usurpations" by the Democrats and whether the People should exercise their right and duty to alter such manifestations of absolute tyranny. When voting this next election remember that Democrats in the three branches of government work in concert to expand government control over everything we do and many times in complete disregard for the Constitution they have sworn to uphold and protect.

James Sandner, Ripon
