Debra Dausy: Get inmates to work
The county keeps people locked up so long in jail before they are even proven guilty. The jails are full and prisoners get restless waiting in limbo. We should have a work crew that goes out everyday and does yard work for the elderly and disabled. There could be an online sign up for people that need help. One officer or two could take four to five prisoners a day and make the rounds. They could mow, blow and trim. This would help keep Modesto looking better and give prisoners something to do. Better than prisoners sitting around all day.
