Lance Bernard: Trump makes some good points
Ok, so you don’t like Donald Trump. I get it. Still, you have to admit that he does make some good points however inelegantly those points might be stated.
To wit: The latest brouhaha over Trump stating that under Saddam Hussein there were no terrorists in Iraq. Now, Saddam may have been a really, really bad guy, but there wasn’t any ISIS. The same holds true for Syria: It wasn’t until we decided to support the so-called “moderates” and get rid of Assad that things began falling apart. There weren’t any terrorist in Libya until we decided to kill Gaddafi. It wasn’t until we tried to export our own quaint little version of morals and ideals to the Middle East that things started going to hell. So, if you want to criticize Trump (and I’ll admit that there is plenty to criticize) at least please try to acknowledge that maybe behind that bluster he’s saying things that no-one else wants to admit.
