Efren Martinez: Would you walk barefoot on hot pavement? Pets shouldn’t have to
Just as you wouldn’t walk barefoot on the hot pavement, please be mindful not to walk your dog when the mercury exceeds 95 degrees. As it gets hotter, so do our roads, parking lots and sidewalks. In fact, when the temperature exceeds 100 degrees, the pavement become hot enough to cook an egg. Friends, pet paws can burn – just as your feet can burn on the hot road or even at the beach on hot sand. Always leave a fresh water and a cool place for your outdoor pets before you leave for work each day, and for the love of all that lives, never leave your child or pet unattended in a car with the windows rolled up – no matter what season; never!
