Daniel Connell: It doesn’t matter if Denham supports Trump, he’s not worth re-electing
Re “Jeff Denham, do you support Trump or not?” (Page 1D, June 26): Apart from supporting or not supporting Donald Trump, why should any Democrat or independent voter support Congressman Denham’s re-election? After all, he is a die-hard Republican who denies man-made climate change, is against universal health care, wants to privatize Social Security and Medicare, and does not support a separate firefighting budget for public lands – a critical issue in California.
Of course like every other elected official, he touts his support of veterans. But who doesn’t? The Trump issue is ironic for Republicans, since we all know Trump is only for Trump, a Republican in name only. Before the demonization of Hillary Clinton, she would have been considered a moderate to conservative Democrat. Indeed, she once was a moderate Republican, before the party became radicalized.
