Fredrick Rice: City took extra steps to clean up our trees

Re “Too many trees have mistletoe” (Letters, Jan. 23): I read the letter to the editor about city trees and the criticism of the city for the mess the trees are in. Yes, the trees are/were in a mess. Some of our neighborhoods were looking pretty dismal. Hard times and tight money is partly to blame. I want to thank the city for stepping up to the plate and using its resources, as well as hiring extra people, to clean the mistletoe from the trees and address other problems. Our neighborhoods are looking better and it will be easier to keep property and streets cleaner. Thank you, Modesto forestry department for a good job.
