Lisa Dovichi-Braden: Modesto wants a reset? Take Beckwith Triangle off map
Re “City to revisit growth map, Wood Colony plans” (Front page, June 16): A timeout, a reset, a restart, whatever you call it here we go again.
If Modesto’s mayor wants to reset and restart the process back to the 1995 general plan then he needs to remove all of Wood Colony, including the Beckwith Triangle, to actually start with a clean slate.
I find it interesting that Modesto’s planning manager said the council could remove Wood Colony from the general plan, but his comments about how much time and community involvement it would take makes me believe he just doesn’t want to do the extra work.
Removing the Beckwith Triangle is the right thing to do for all parties involved, especially for the new mayor who said he ran on community outreach and collaboration. What a better way to show the citizens of Modesto it’s not the chamber of commerced running the show.
