David Pimentel: Media apply a double standard to Trump, Clinton
There has been a double standard in politics for a long time, usually against Republicans and in favor of Democrats. But the latest example is so obvious yet remains unchallenged. Perhaps someone on Donald Trump’s team will take the enabler comments to the next level. Many democratic and leftist leaders are calling for the head of both the Stanford swimmer convicted of rape and the judge that sentenced him. Yet the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has not ever requested the prosecution or tough sentence for her own husband, who has done who-knows-what to hundreds of women. Many have also raised the white privilege issue against the former Stanford athlete, but no one has applied that insult against Bill or Hillary Clinton.
Again, some reporters have asked Trump’s daughter how she feels about her father’s comments regarding women. But the media does not ask Chelsea Clinton the same question. There is no perfect candidate because there are no perfect humans on this earth, but I will never understand how anyone can vote for a candidate who says “what difference does it make?” when asked about Americans that were killed under her watch.
