Richard Weiglein: Fed up with those who don’t appreciate the police
Re “Police not only lives on the line” (Letters, June 9): I can’t believe this guy thinks police are trigger happy! It makes me sick every time I read or hear about some nut who thinks the police are supposed to wait until the crook shots at them and hope and pray he misses so they can return fire and hopefully don’t miss. Why don’t these police haters go out and patrol the streets and hopefully run into some gang member hell-bent on killing.
Or, when he needs police help, let him call some gang member to settle his complaint; leave the police free to help those who appreciate good service.
When I read about victims who refuse to cooperate with the police investigation, I say leave them lay on the street and let them settle their own problems. It is quite clear they think they are better than the police. I am so glad the new mayor and police chief see the need for more officers on the street, let’s just hope this new city council also sees the need, they seem to have money for everything else.
