Girish Parikh: If only a vaccine could have saved her life
Re “Anti-vaccine movement draws flak” (Page A-1, Jan. 23): I read the report with great interest. While I am writing this, on my desk is the picture of my late daughter, Nita, whom I could never hold in my hands! She was born in our town Bavla in Gujarat state, India, after I came to the U.S. in February, 1967. My wife Hasu, father-in-law Atmaram Patel, mother-in-law Jadiba did all they could, but she died in early 1969 at the age of two due to a measles infection. I remember the day I got the news. I looked at her picture and cried the whole night. She was a cute little girl. I pray for all who are affected by measles.
