John King: Denham let gender bias sink a Republican bill; shameful

House Republicans unexpectedly sunk their own $37.4 billion water and energy spending bill because it included a provision ensuring that people who work for government contractors can’t be fired for being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. Jeff Denham, who was pressured by the party, voted against the bill at the last minute. This shows me that our congressman chooses not to protect everybody in our community. A non-biased provision should be implied in all government contracts, let alone voted against it. Shameful.
