Alan Seliger: Don’t make excuses for terrorists

Re “The solution is not more guns” (Letters, Jan. 21): This is the most unqualified and unsubstantiated response as to why many young men choose to join the likes of ISIS or any other terrorist organization and kill people for a cause. To state that those who commit these atrocities have no hope and no expectation to improving their lives is just typical progressive, bleeding-heart blather. Many of those who join these terrorist organization sit in their middle-class homes and play video games instead of working and are easy targets for terrorist propaganda. These people and their families make no attempt to assimilate into the culture where they live and as long as they choose to isolate themselves they will always live on the fringe of society.

To say these people have no hope and have nothing to lose and that killing and death seem like a reward is so much BS that it stinks, pardon the pun.

And so guns really do not play into this equation of making excuses for people who kill other people, guns are only choices of weapons used by terrorists as they have at their disposal an array of weapons.
