Gerald J. Avila: Hanoi Jane a Hollywood elitist who betrayed her country

In a recent interview Jane Fonda said she was sorry for the mistake in judgment during the Vietnam War.

Jane Fonda posing on an aircraft battery gun was not the worst thing she did on that trip in 1972. It was when an American prisoner palming her handshake with a message for his family back home and she handed it to the Viet Cong in charge.

“Hanoi Jane” never served prison time for her crimes. She is the typical Hollywood elitist who thinks the world revolves around them.

Trash is what trash does!

Gerald J. Avila, Turlock

Editor’s note: According to the fact-checking website Snopes.com and several publications, including those written by Fonda’s detractors, the widely circulated story is not true. Fonda did not receive or turn over any messages from prisoners to their captors while visiting Hanoi.
