Gene Richards: Hanson knows history, but his lens needs cleaning
Victor Davis Hanson is an oft-published columnist in The Bee. He is well versed, erudite, educated and profound. When I read his columns I have my dictionary at the ready. He is a renowned expert on military history (my favorite subject) and writes many articles on contemporary politics. Hanson was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2007 by President George W. Bush.
Obliviously, Hanson is a person who should be taken seriously – and I do. My problem is that his political views are simplistic right-wing dogma embedded in massive rhetoric designed to overwhelm the average reader. I will continue to enjoy his views on history and take his contemporary comments with a dash of vinegar.
