Jeanine Clarke: Lack of respect shown during Gregori High graduation ceremony
On Tuesday evening I attended the graduation ceremony at Gregori High School. It was wonderful to see the class march into the stadium, their graduation caps challenged by the wind. The ceremony was well organized and ran smoothly. The front page of the beautiful program stated “please remain seated until the end of the ceremony.”
But this request was ignored by many in attendance. In our section, some people left after their student’s name was read. Though several rows of graduates still had not crossed the stage, a large number of people climbed up the noisy metal stairs to exit the stadium or walked down to the gate leading to the football field, paying no attention to the ceremony. By the time the last few rows of students crossed the stage, most of the section below us was empty.
It was extremely disappointing to see such a lack of courtesy and respect for the graduation class by so many.
