Mary Griffin: Our house, yard in disrepair, but so is my husband’s health
Re “Seen from tracks, Modesto’s a mess” (Letters, May 23): I live in one of the disgraceful houses mentioned in today`s letter (Carver, Rumble area). My lawn died last summer; all weeds now and no way to keep them cut down. My husband has dementia, we’re both in our 80s and our lives have gone awry. My yard is an embarrassment to me. So is my house and my car! I am the care-giver of everything in our lives.
There are not enough hours in the day to do it all. Besides, I have limited energy and money. I’m taking it one day at a time and choosing not to fret about what I can’t manage to improve. I hope you never have to live this way.
Mary Griffin, Modesto
