David Shirk: We need some rules enforcement on Virginia Corridor Trailway
I just finished walking on the Virginia Corridor Trailway. Most of the people on it are kind, friendly and considerate. Then there are the majority of the bicyclists. They flash past you without consideration or safety. They are supposed to slow down around walkers, aren’t they?
There are a lot of people like me out there who are older, with arthritis and other ailments, and not totally balanced while moving. Why be so rude and unsafe?
Dog excrement and gas scooters are other problems. Why not have a spot checker travel the path periodically to cite offenders and clean up the dog excrement? Like motorists, cite them and they won’t be as apt to break the rules.
