Karen Mosser: Kitten season arriving, so get your cats neutered
Kitten season is just around the corner and the most important thing we can do to save cats from all the suffering and death that their overpopulation causes is to spay and neuter them. In seven years one unaltered female cat and her offspring can produce an incredible 370,000 kittens. Sterilized cats live longer, happier lives.
Residents of Stanislaus County have a lot of low-cost spay/neuter options for cats. The Stanislaus County Animal Shelter Trap/Neuter/Return program has returned over 3,000 spayed or neutered cats to the community since June 1, 2013, reducing their cat euthanasia rate. Our full service feral/stray/pet cat clinic “Cat Network” is taking appointments. Our volunteers are working hard at running this successful clinic that has spayed or neutered hundreds of community cats.
Millions of pet death each year are a needless tragedy. By spaying or neutering your cat you can be an important part of the solution. Contact Cat Network, (209) 735-0604 and make an appointment or donation and be sure to let your family and friends know they should do the same.
