Doug Estes: Harris wouldn’t defend our state constitution, doesn’t deserve our vote

I don’t think California Attorney General Kamala Harris is qualified to hold office in California or in the Federal Government as she refused to execute her duty as attorney general and uphold her oath to defend the Constitution of the State of California.

The people of California, by referendum, enacted a constitutional amendment. The Amendment was the subject of a lawsuit. Kamala Harris refused to defend the California Constitution against this lawsuit. Therefore, the U.S. Supreme Court denied hearing the case, stating the defenders (the proponents of the referendum attempted to defend this law) did not have standing to defend the case, only the government. Due to Kamala Harris refusal to defend the California constitution, the people of California did not get a U.S. Supreme Court decision. Much later, the U.S. Supreme court, in another case, held that a similar law violated the U.S. Constitution.

No matter what side of this issue you were on, Kamala Harris violated her duty and oath of office and denied the people of California the right to a U.S. Supreme Court hearing on a California law. I can’t trust her to do her duty for Californians.
