Laura Falls: Things to do while waiting for police to respond; write to The Bee

Got the news while at work. Someone crashed into my fence and left the scene. Other neighbors witnessed the individual spinning donuts and sliding his truck on the gravel in the alley. I had the winning fence.

I placed a call at 6 p.m. to the Modesto police department. I wait. At 9:30 p.m., I’m tired. I cancel the call thinking all the crazies of Modesto might sleep. I call again 5:30 a.m. I wait. Call my employer. I’m going to be late for work. I wait. Where are the law enforcement officers? Where are the Community Service Officers? Is Modesto going to hell in a hand basket? We don’t have enough law enforcement to babysit the idiots out there. Is this why people feel they need to take the law in their own hands? It’s 9 a.m. I am still waiting.
