Lou Carnes: How does county prioritize which trees to trim or take out?

I live half a block out of the city limits, making me a county resident. I woke up at 7:30 a.m. to a lot of noise. County tree men.

Found out they were here to cut down a Sycamore tree two houses down; it was dead on one side. It took five men six hours to cut down one tree. I have been trying over eight years (before economy went bad) to get the county to trim a tree in front of my house. They always say they will, put me on a list or have someone come out and look at it.

That tree is larger than ever and overhangs my house. It has been lifting the sidewalk and making it a hazard. Wind has been downing small branches, so big ones are next. When it goes, it will take out the front of my house.

How do I get this done, or how much can I sue county for when it happens? I am 80 years old and it worries me. Can I sue for all my stress?
