Cleopathia Moore-Bell: Thanks for anonymous act of kindness

May 2nd, my husband and I went to Applebee in Riverbank for early dinner. While eating our appetizer, a man came up and asked if my husband was in the Air Force. He said yes, to which the man responded, “there’s Army, Navy and Air force here.” After a few more words, he went to his table. We finished dinner and the waitress brought the bill. It had a total that included meals for four. We then noticed the top said “Your bill has been paid.” At the bottom it said, “Thank You.”

We asked the waitress who had paid our bill and where were they.

It was a couple across from us who had quietly prepared their boxes for take out, never spoke a word to us but paid for our meal. We were surprised and amazed at such generosity, and really not sure how to accept it. They were gone, so we could not say “we appreciate it, but no thanks.” We felt extremely humbled, as we sat there saying “they didn’t have to” ... but they already had.

So, whoever and wherever you are: Thank you and God bless!
