Connie Gray: More global warming data doesn’t make it true

Re “2014 was warmest in 135 years” (Page A7, Jan. 17): I read your article on global warming one day after reading a long article entitled “Scientists Eviscerate Feds’ ‘Hottest Year’ claim” (World Net Daily, www.wnd.com). Scientists have been referring to the global warming scam as “Climategate” and well-known scientist Art Robinson has gathered signatures of 31,487 scientists-so far-who agree that “there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the earth’s climate.”

“Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects on the natural plant and animal environments of the earth.”

Many scientists argue that data fed to NASA and NOAA have confirmed the global mean surface temperatures have not risen for 18 consecutive years.

Kenneth Haapala, executive vice-president of the Science and Environmental Policy Project in Virginia, contended “It’s past time for the world to stop the madness of wasting great sums of money on EPA’s imaginary threat.”

Meteorologist John Coleman: “There has been no warming in 18 years. The ice at the poles is stable. The polar bears are increasing. The oceans are not rising.”
