Robert Stanford: Treat Modesto homeless with respect, dignity and love

We, as a community, have waited for too long to draw the line. We must draw that line now. We must act and hold ourselves accountable for our inherent cruelty and arrogance.

No human being deserves to look out across the pavement in the middle of the night and realize that, out of billions of people in this world, not a single one cares about them. We treat our homeless worse than we treat stray dogs. Enough!

Every human being deserves a healthy and humane amount of respect from all of us. Every human being deserves shelter, food, comfort and care so that they may make positive and healthy decisions regarding their lives and have the wherewithal to pursue their happiness. We have no right to deny them such.

Lift your voice for your impoverished brothers, sisters and children; know that is what they are. Realize that they are a part of us and let us show them our love, no less than we would show ourselves or the ones in our lives we love the most.
