Raymond E. Nichols: Another promise the city never kept
Re “City’s plan to sell part of McClure property challenged” (Page 1A, April 17): Reading in Sunday’s newspaper that the city of Modesto hasn’t been able to keep its promise of 40 years ago to develop the McClure site reminds me of the promise they made to us when they wanted to put in a traffic light on McHenry Avenue at Leveland Avenue. They claimed that if it was approved it would be synchronized with the traffic light at Floyd on McHenry.
It is not. We get to stop at both intersections even though they are only a few hundred feet apart. Is it any wonder that our air quality is what it is?
