Catherine Litel: How dare you aim your awful propaganda at 5-year-olds
Last week my daughter called about a protest occurring at her daughter’s school in Ceres. Anti-abortionists, with graphic signage, were standing in the middle of children as they were getting out of the junior high and elementary schools. I called the city and the police department to ask if they had given permits for protests in the area; they had not.
I don’t care what your view is – pro-life or pro-choice – you do not expose children to images like that. It’s not your job to teach them about worldly issues; that duty belongs to their parents at an age they feel is appropriate.
My granddaughter told me two days later about what she saw and how it made her feel. She’s only 5!
Congratulations, protesters – you got your shock value. You had a captive audience of children trying to cross the street to get home. How dare you worm your way into an innocent child’s mind and give her a terrible memory of kindergarten!
As far as the school administraters, the crossing guard who works on the corner should have called the police as soon as she saw the incident occurring and had them arrested.
