Steve Crifasi: Water restrictions still in force; will Modesto follow them?
I just received a flyer from the City of Modesto stating we are in a “Year-Round 2-A Water Restrictions.” Does this mean the city must abide by these rules also.
Last year I was driving around Modesto, seeing the city watering parks and schoolyards at all different times of day, every day. I live by Beyer High School. They would start watering early in the morning and let it run into the late afternoon before the water was turned off. It was funny watching kids dodging the sprinklers. The amount of water used in one day at the school, I would not have used in a year.
Is the city going to continue these practices, or are they going to set the example? I have the Water Waster (209 342-2246) phone number in my cell phone.
Steve Crifasi, Modesto
Editor’s note: The city does not control the watering practices of any school district or schools; parks adjacent to schools are the responsibility of the city.
