Shirley Beauregard: Looking for help, but not finding any

One two occasions I have been to Oakdale Family Services for help, and was given a pamphlet.

I have made two calls to DRAIL, left phone information and gotten no response.

On Feb. 17, I went to Adult Protective Services of Stanislaus County, was told I would get help and a social worker. Went back on March 10, still no help and no phone calls returned. I was told they might help me with some of the deposit on a new apartment.

I called United Way on Feb. 22 and was given the phone number for the Salvation Army. I went there, was handed a pamphlet and told to go to another location for elder abuse. While there, a homeless person came in. They offered him a hot biscuit; I was not.

I am 81 years old, going blind and soon will be homeless. What’s wrong with this picture? Let’s not keep these organizations until they help everyone. I need help.
