David L. Johnson: Someone must stand on the line between chaos and us
On April 4, 2016, I was leaving an appointment and noticed two Turlock police units, one regular and one K-9, next to where I was backing out. I stopped for a moment and asked if I could ask what was happening. I was politely told, that they had just apprehended someone with outstanding warrants, and had him in his car waiting for pickup.
I related that decades ago I was in the military, in security and policing, and it is something that never leaves you. He agreed. I told him “Good job,” and thanked him again before leaving. After I left, my thoughts turned to this officer and the others who put their lives on the line every day, just as us veterans once did and those on active duty still do today.
I don’t think we appreciate enough those who stand between us and total lawlessness every day. They are there, holding the line against chaos and lawlessness.
