Christine Scheele: Many Latinos like what they see in Trump

Re “Meet the Latinos for Trump” (Page 3B, March 31): I expected a major put down via Ruben Navarrette’s article, “Meet the Latinos for Trump” (Page 3B, March 31). Instead he made a case for why anyone – including Latino Americans – are attracted to Donald Trump.

Alas, he finished with a typical judgmental conclusion – That Latinos are a lot of what’s right in America, but in politics, some get it wrong (to paraphrase). As usual, Navarrette elevates his role as the wise and valiant Latino. He pretends to applaud the various views of Latino Americans, but in his slanted process he slams those Mexican Americans who don’t agree.

And quoting pompous ex-oligarch Vicente Fox, please! Fox is not a champion of anyone but himself. To quote that rat, Navarrette exposes his “poser” mentality. Many Latino Americans do think for themselves, and are attracted to Trump ... as opposed to the slanted “wisdom” of Navarrette or Fox.
