Annahita Jasavala: They stole her wreath, but she has a plan
When a New Year sets in, people generally wish each other well. I recently experienced a New Year’s greeting from a vandal – call it a New Year’s slap! The cork wreath that decorated our front door for many years was stolen. The wreath was not just a piece of purchased decoration. The wine corks glued onto the wreath frame had a connection with our lives. The hours that went into hot gluing these meant a lot to us, but apparently it was just an item to steal for the thief.
What causes people to stoop so low? Did their parents not teach them to leave other people’s property alone? Are our society’s values eroding with everything available at the flick of a switch or the touch of a button?
The next wreath I put up will be electrified, so the thief will singe his/her fingers the minute they try to steal! Slap you back!
