Janet S. Fredericksen: ‘The Elephant Man’ is a can’t-miss show at MJC

If you forgot to buy tickets to “The Elephant Man,” now performing at MJC, you have really missed out on an extraordinary performance. The production, directed by Prof. Michael J. Lynch, was superbly interpreted. The actors captivated our interest and touched our hearts with their believable acting skills. They gave a wonderful performance.

You need to take the opportunity to experience the dramatic true story of a rare disease that entrapped a brilliant mind in the twisted, deformed physical body of Joseph (John) Merrick.

Such great local talent should be applauded and patronized. Many times talent is brought in from other areas, but not this time. Supporting our local actors is such a fabulous and outstanding way to help educate our community to thrive and boost our arts and humanities.

Once again, another plateau has been reached for the educational standard at MJC. So don’t miss out. Plan on attending the next performance.

Janet S. Fredericksen, Modesto

Editor’s note: The remaining performances of The Elephant Man will be March 31, April 1 and April 2 at 7:30 p.m. and April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Media Arts Center on the MJC East Campus. Tickets are $10 general admission.
